Banger driver 257, Shaun Wenyss recieved a compound fracture of his left ankle in the incident in the first Banger race.
After being admitted to ARI, he went through a four hour operation to repair the the ankle. All went well with the operation and the ankle has been pinned back together.
After another small operation planned for Wednesday, doctors are happy the ankle will repair its self and Shaun will be back walking in about 10 - 12 weeks.

Banger driver 234, Paul Mathews, athough he managed to remove himself from his car, he was in some distress with his breathing. He was also taken to ARI where checks found that he had a Ruptured Diaphram.
After a two hour operation to repair the diaphram, again doctors are happy that Paul will make a full recovery.
He was due to leave ARI on Wednesday.

We wish both drivers a speedy recovery.

Both accidents were just racing incidents which can happen in stock car racing.

Update on both drivers.

Shaun has had his operation today, (Wednesday), on his ankle, but will have to have another one at the weekend. This final one will see the ankle all sown up and well on the road to recovery.

Paul had a bit more problems than first thought, apart from the ruptured diaphram, he has bruised Kidneys and ribs.
He did have colapsed lungs but has recovered from that, so it looks like it will be well into the weekend till he is allowed home.

Again, we wish them a speedy recovery.
